Between the stone walls and arcades of an old 17th century stable we find Arcano, a very special restaurant that boasts a privileged location between Barcelona’s Cathedral and the Picasso Museum, right next to Santa Caterina market.
Arcano is a really warm space that plays with faint light and other tasteful details in order to create a nice and cosy, young and informal atmosphere. The restaurant has a charming private room in the wine cellar where we will enjoy our celebrations with more intimacy.
The cuisine blends the Argentienean gastronomy with the Catalan and Mediterranean tradition. The menu, thus, includes delicious salads, homemade pasta and ‘empanadas’ and specialities like josper grilled vegetables, meats (from Argentina, Galicia and Girona) and fish. Besides, the bar area invites us to enjoy excellent tapas.

Founded in 1920 and still with the original modernist decor from the beginning of last century, El Gran Café is probably the most impressive and attractive café in Barcelona.
Located in the Gothic Quarter, the setting attracts mostly tourists that, in this perfect scenario, seize the opportunity to try the most typical Catalan food -which by the way is not as good as the whole setting but still far more than acceptable. In the menu we will find dishes such as the beef entrecôte, the Segovia style lamb, the tuna tataki, the duck confit and some rice dishes.
The set lunch menú is, with no doubt, a good option. The cellar includes a hundred national wines. The restaurant counts, as well, with different private rooms for group dinners. The most quiet and intimate tables are those on the top floor. There's live piano music at night.

El Gran Café is located near the Mayor House, this old-fashioned restaurant decorated in the style "Belle Epoque", serves typical Catalan and international dishes.
If you are looking for standards choose eyes closed: steak tartare, roast beef, duck magret and osso buco. We prefer Catalan recipe like los taquitos de rape con muselina y miniverduras... Or try the daily menu for 11,25€, with many dishes to choose and just perfect. Live piano at night!

Located on the border of Gracia and Eixample Dret, Ferrum is a small and cozy restaurant that delights both with its gastronomic proposal and its ambience.
Boasting an intimate and quiet atmosphere, the restaurant has a few tables and a nice terrace, and its decoration combines red and black with stone walls and soft lighting which create a charming setting suitable for the most special evening.
The brief but interesting menu is made with fresh seasonal ingredients and presents Mediterranean-inspired dishes with the chef’s original personal touch.
On Tuesday night, dinners are enlivened with live jazz. After dinner, nothing is better than enjoying a good cocktail or gin and tonic in neighbouring Aigua del Carmen, an exquisite cocktail bar next door run by the same owners.

In a warm and refine place not far from city center, Ferrum could be defined as a modern Catalan gastronomic restaurant.
We appreciate very much the way the chef transforms fresh market products and traditional recipes into something new, sophisticated and amusing.
We tasted: Foie gras with vanilla infused pears and muscatel gelee (14€) - Cod carpaccio with crispy onion, dried tomato and olives (12€) - Eggs “Ferrum” with porcini mushrooms, foie gras and truffle essence (11€) - Baked turbot San Sebastian style (17.5€) - Caramelized Iberian pork with green peppers, cherry tomatoes and Manchego cheese (18€).. A perfect mix of savors and ideas.. Not too sophisticated but enough to amaze! Imagination we wish to see more often. Great chart of local wine.. Perfect.

Ferrum Restaurant is a small, cosy and warm restaurant, just at the start of the Gracia neighbourhood. Empathy is one of the keywords here and their objective is to respond to the desires of their clients. Every customer is special here and they make you feel that way with a distended treatment without interfering with the intimacy of the table.
The cuisine is based on seasonal products and a meticulous preparation. The dishes are traditional, but do not lack imagination and creative touches, always prepared with excellent raw materials.
The atmosphere is very carefully set up with soft lighting and appropriate music, which completes the ideal setting for a special evening.
On Tuesdays they have live performances of jazz music on their peculiar mezzanine.

Silvestre is a restaurant with soul where we will eat as we would like to eat at home: excellent cuisine in a quiet, personal, cosy atmosphere.
The restaurant is elegant and offers different spaces and private rooms with different capacities, ideal for either a business meeting, a family celebration or a more intimate dinner.
Guillermo Casañé and Marta Cabot, the owners of the business, run the restaurant since 2000. Marta welcomes the clients with a big smile on her face and exquisite kindness, while Guillermo seduces them with his modernised traditional dishes.
The menu at Silvestre is based on high quality products and combines seasonal cuisine with surprising elements and an exotic touch. In short, Silvestre is a place to feel pampered by a really kind staff that takes care down to the very last detail and knows how to turn any meal into a special moment.

A graceful and easygoing mainstay in Barcelona's culinary galaxy, this restaurant serves modern cuisine to some of the city's most discerning and distinguished diners. Located just below Via Augusta, Silvestre's series of intimate dining rooms and cozy corners are carefully tended by chef Guillermo (Willy) Casañé and his charming wife Marta Cabot, a fluent English-speaking maître d' and partner. Look for fresh market produce lovingly prepared in dishes such as tuna tartare, noodles and shrimp, or wood pigeon with duck liver. Willy's semi-secret list of house wines is always surprising for its quality and value.

Nile Guide
This busy eating house is frequented by the bold and the beautiful. With emphasis on quality, it serves pastas, salads, paella, seafood and meat dishes. First timers should try the Tuna Millefueille or Eastern Noodles with Squid here. You can opt for wines by the glass but the list is very limited. There's a steady flow of customers, so reserve to avoid disappointment.

Time Out
A place for fine cuisine, in the uptown area of the city. Noted for its superb market cuisine, highly original and tasty. Try the delicious cod with pigs’ trotters, with capers or ratatouille, and the chef also recommends: belly of tuna with celery purée, bean sprouts and ginger, or tuna in mille-feuille with caramelised peppers, onions and goat cheese. Excellent interior decor and service. Good wine list. All cooked and served by the owners.

Founed in 1998 by Glòria Blanco and managed by her son, David Vida, La Camarga is a sober restaurant that pays the utmost attention to detail and offers season Mediterranean detail.
The specialty of the house is rice, prepared with the right dose of sophistication and mastery. The menu invites us to taste an exquisite variety of seasonal products at affordable prices in the shape of creative dishes, elaborated with meticulous dedication and carefully served, in a select and comfortable atmosphere.
Besides the menu, which is updated four times a year, La Camarga offers eight set menus for groups and a selection of wines that includes over eighty labels.

It has a small bar and a spacious main dining room, with parquet flooring, wicker furniture and a few long benches. Market-fresh menu at moderate prices.

Spotted by Locals
Like some suspicion with your soup? A bit of intrigue with your entrées? Or, would you prefer some suspense with your supper?
La Camarga is currently in the news … not for its food and ambience, but because it hosted a dinner with the leader of the regional Partido Popular (currently top dogs in Madrid) and the former girlfriend of a prominent Catalan politician. Their conversation was recorded for a private detective agency commissioned by the Socialist opposition via microphones hidden among flowers on the table. Bribes, corruption, money laundering…the whole nine yards. It transpired that the owner of the detective agency is a regular customer and a good friend of the owner. Favoured by politicians, their aides and crooked paymasters, La Camarga offers discerning diners discreet (though, obviously, not very private) dining rooms....More on this here >>
The food here is pretty good and, compared with similar establishments in other capital cities, offers exceptional value. The last time I ate here I was served 12 starters, including gazpacho, mini spring rolls, bean salad, croquettes, mini barbecue ribs, and cuttlefish, served with two different wines. For a main course I had roast leg of lamb with a bitter orange confit accompanied with a Bierzo, while my partner enjoyed fillet mignon with tortilla. We were then served two exceptionally tasty desserts. All good stuff. Service is good, if formal. If you’re wanting to push the boat out while you’re here you could do a lot worse. Just keep in mind who could be listening.

Close to Museu Picasso, in Barcelona’s district of El Born, there is a small restaurant that feeds on high level artistic and gastronomic sources. With the creative hands of Ferran Bofarull and under the direction of attentive maître Marcos Eiras, Montiel Espai Gastronòmic leaves no one indifferent. The secret lies in the quality and fine selection of the ingredients, as well as in the service offered by the careful staff.
It is not strange that every time we visit the restaurant we make new discoveries, not only because of the elaborate menu or the amazing wine cellar, but also because of the wine tastings they organise every now and then (we can actually buy the wines at the shop by the entrance).
Both tasting set menu and menu are a gastronomic journey around Spain. While visiting coasts and mountains, we will find dishes like Iberian suckling pig, veal carpaccio with Manchego cheese and toasted pine nuts, foie mi cuit salad with lentils, strawberries and Modena vinegar or tomatoes stuffed with cod “brandada” and basil oil, as well as delicious hand-made cheese and jams. In this journey we are accompanied by more than 80 wines selected in small Spanish cellars of limited production.

Time Out
This rather humble place specialising in cured meats and sausages has evolved into a great eatery serving classics such as suckling pig (which they make very well here), or more daring dishes, like the surf’n’turf squid with Iberian pork cheek accompanied with creamy black rice.

60 x 80
Located just off the Passeig del Born, right behind the Picasso Museum, the ‘gastronomic space’ of Montiel is a favourite with foodies and tourists – at times you might not hear any Spanish spoken here – and you’d better book in advance if you want to secure one of its 40-something seats.
A proponent of the Slow Food movement, the small restaurant serves up traditional recipes using market fresh ingredients although there’s ambition well beyond the ‘local and organic’ ethos in Ferran Bofarull Olivés’s kitchen, with plenty of modern touches and elaborate presentation added to the mix.
The result is not quite haute cuisine and the service – friendly enough and with the best of intentions, just out of its depth at times – can be a let-down but the dishes are mostly excellent and sufficiently refined to impress most. For a true gastronomic experience, you’d be better off – and might spend less – at one of Barcelona’s bistronomics; for a solid meal in the Born area, it doesn’t get much better than this.

Nile Guide
Located in the posh and trendy Born neighborhood, Montiel is one of Barcelona's most delicious restaurants. Hard to locate if you don't know what you're looking for, this two storey, small and quaint local favourite, is a wonderful place to bring a date or to have an intimate meal with family and friends. The staff are attentive and friendly and the restaurant boasts the best variety of fresh fish, daily from the local market.

Barcelona Metropolitan
Chef Ferran Bofarull carefully selects the finest products to use in his creative menu. Expect the best Spanish cheeses and hams, foie gras and traditional cod all given an expert culinary twist.

10Best
There are few Barcelona restaurants able to beat the charm, elegance and eclectic menu found at Montiel. Hidden on one of the narrow side streets in the Born, this small, two-story restaurant has mouth watering tapas, meats, starters and above all they have an excellent selection of fresh fish daily. One of the only places in the city that has fish on Mondays (for the most part fish is not caught and sold on Sundays), this is a sure bet for dates, guests or an intimate evening out.

The throne room of Palau Nacional (National Palace) in Montjuïc -where the king Alfonso the 13th inaugurated the 1929 World Exposition- is the privileged scenario that houses the restaurant of the MNAC (National Art Museum of Catalunya), called Òleum.
The restaurant is located in a very special setting, with a modern design and a sober, elegant atmosphere that delights us with impressive views to Barcelona thanks to the huge windows and a panel of titltes mirrors that reflect the city's profile.
The Laie group is in charge of the cuisine since 2009, and presents Mediterranean and Catalan-inspired menu made with a creative touch.
This is definitely a great option when it comes to impressing someone.

Barcelona Guide
Located on the top of Palau Nacional with splendid views across Barcelona. A classic place, newly redecorated with very high sealing, lighth colors, design details like a hugh roof mirror that double the effect of the magnificent views etc. The food is an updated version of traditional Catalan and can include courses like scallops on squid ink noodles with lime foam.

The majestic stairs of the MNAC building overlooking Plaça Espanya make it the perfect spot for a photo op, but Catalan art manages to tempt relatively few visitors to visit the museum itself. Offering something to eat, however, has worked wonders, and Oleum is now one of the museum’s main draws. With no plastic trays or self-service in sight, this is no ordinary museum eatery, but a full-service restaurant set in a spectacular dining room (make sure to explore the rest of the impressive interiors of the museum, too), with wonderful views as well as great food for a lunch date to remember. At night it’s only open for private functions.

The district of El Born was, in the beginning of the eighties, the place chosen by Ramon Parellada to follow his family tradition and offer Barcelona's public a homey establishment that reminds us of the typical old Catalan ‘fondas’.
Senyor Parellada brings us back the most traditional Catalan cuisine and presents homemade simple dishes cooked according to classic recipes with good market produce.
Spread out over two classy floors decorated with good taste, the restaurant is perfect for any occasion, from romantic evenings to family gatherings.

The glossy, contemporary-looking interior of this restaurant is in distinct contrast to the facade of its century-old home. Inside, in a pair of lemon-yellow and blue dining rooms, you'll find menu items such as Italian-style cannelloni, stuffed cabbage, cod "as it was prepared by the monks of the Poblet monastery," baked monkfish with mustard and garlic sauce, and roasted rack of lamb with red-wine sauce. Patrons flock here faithfully, knowing they'll be served a traditional cuisine of northeast Spain created with fine local produce. The chefs know how to coax the flavor out of the premium ingredients.

...I first came across this recipe, Lamb roasted with 12 heads of garlic, in Colman Andrews’s Catalan Cuisine, which I refer to time and again in all matters of culinary Catalunya. And I’m pleased to say that the restaurant Senyor Parellada remains one of the few places in Barcelona where it can reliably be found. It’s a fantastic dinner party dish, and one that’s relatively easy to make, served with trimmings of roast potatoes and a side of escalivada (Catalan roasted vegetables)...

Ramón Perellada owns and manages this restaurant that has been in his family and in the same location for generations. His forefathers used to serve adventurers and colonists on their way to the New World. Nowadays, he prepares typical Catalan dishes with a wonderful Picada sauce made with garlic, nuts, toasted bread, parsley and spices. His 'Cannelloni Fonda Europa' (a recipe inherited from his grandparents' inn in Granollers) is outstanding, as are the stewed beef with artichokes and the rice with lentils. Good Catalan wines like Prat de Medea or Clarege Gran Caus are available, or opt directly for Llopart Brut Nature Cava (sparkling wine), like many locals do.
