Cook Daniel Rueda and his wife, Natàlia Ferran, opened in 2010 a tapas bar they can be proud of. Good product, good prices and the hands of Daniel, trained in prestigious restaurants such as La Dama, Comerç 24 and Tapas 24. Tapeo is a small and friendly space the décor of which pays homage to the markets. In addition to the long bar that runs from the entrance to the back, the restaurant has a few high tables and one large table (10 seats).
Located in the back of the space, the open kitchen looks like a market stall. There, the chef creates his wonderful repertoire of tapas, from the most popular and traditional to the most creative ones.

Invest in Barcelona
Tapeo Anem de Tapes is among the top restaurants in the city. It specializes in Tapas cuisine. Some of the items served on Tapeo Anem de Tapes’ menu include both cold and warm varieties of tapas. Cold ones include cheese and mixed olives, while warm ones include items such as lamb in chocolate and chopitos (baby squid in battered and fried form).

Although Tapas are included on the starters of Spanish cuisine, they are the main focus of some restaurants such as Tapeo Anem de Tapes, which serve it as an independent cuisine. This is so because of the variety of items on the list of Tapas items. Like Montiel Restaurante and Con Gracia, Tapeo Anem de Tapes’ items are also highly priced with the average price for a complete meal being approximately $40. However, the price is totally worth it. The address of the restaurant is C/ Montcada 29, 08003 Barcelona, Spain. Before you visit the restaurant it would be a good idea to glance at its website where most of the items on its menu are listed. Click here to visit the official website.

My Table
The concept is fusion tapas, blending flavours from Catalunya with spices and herbs from the Middle East. It is tapas "with a twist" - exotic wonderful flavours and the freshest ingredients! The ambient is great, the place is cute and cosy and definitely off the beaten path... we also do live music (jazz and bossa nova) and wine-tasting sessions in English or Spanish. We have a wide selection of wines - from all over Catalunya and from Lebanon! Guitar music every wednesday.

Barcelona Life
Riding a current trend in Barcelona, that of serving foreign cuisine in tapas style bites, Ziryab has already proved to be a very popular with the adventurous taste buds of the travel community. Flavours from the Middle Eastern world have been fused together with those from Catalonia and Spain and the restaurant's menu consists of delights like bacon-wrapped dates and grilled halloumi (Arab cheese) with Spanish serrano ham. Finger lickin' good! Meanwhile their range of dips are surely the best west of Baghdad, from the minty hummous to the spicy muhamarra. Finally there's a wine list the likes of which you won't find elsewhere in Barcelona, with choice Lebanese wines complementing a selection from Catalonia's Penedes region. If you're picking holes then you could say that Ziryab can feel a little cramped when full and the service is a trifle slow... but it's hard to blame the restaurant itself for becoming popular.

This is a wine and tapas restaurant very original and innovative food, mixing Catalan and Arabic gastronomic culture
The restaurant concept is innovative, its aim is to bring together the rich and spicy flavours of the Arab world with the strong and varied tastes of Catalunya to give you a unique culinary experience, while enjoying a wide variety of carefully selected wines from the wine-growing regions of the Arab world and Catalunya. Ziryab offers a unique experience, unlike any other restaurants in Barcelona.
With a quiet and original atmosphere, with traditional Arab connotations, is ideal for families, friends and couples. If you like new experiences, innovate and try new taste this is your restaurant.

Situated on a street between the lively heart of Poble Sec and the busy, wide avenue of Parallel this bodega serves exquisitely prepared plates of tapas. It’s a busy, bustling little place, with no seats and only two small tables – it’s shoulder to shoulder standing-room only at Quimet i Quimet. There’s often a small crowd on the street outside. The bodega serves its own-label Belgian bottled beers and its own labelled cava. The walls are lined from ceiling to floor with bottles of beers, wines and spirits from around the world. But it’s the food that makes this bodega very special – simple, but delicious cheeses, cold meats, canned seafood, caviar and vegetable patés served on bread or with bread sticks and transparent fruit flavoured jelly conserves, all lovingly arranged on the plate like an artwork. If you’re a foodie you’ll know the name Ferran Adrià – see this link – this bodega is one of his favorite spots for tapas in Barcelona. It’s not a place for a meal – just a bite or two before dinner. It’s situated just a few doors up the street from Rouge (see the Rouge article) so you could make an evening of it: drop by at Quimet i Quimet for a bite then call into Rouge for drinks, music and atmosphere. Be aware that Quimet i Quimet is only open until four in the afternoon on Saturday, and does not open on Sunday.
The Guardian
Lined from floor to ceiling with wines and spirits from across the globe, this lively bodega is justly famed for its unique and exquisite montaditos modelled from wicked combinations of salmon with truffled honey, tuna dotted with caviar and balsamic syrup, and plates of pungent cheeses served with transparent fruit jelly, glazed chestnuts and pickles arranged like artworks. And, there's mojama (salt-cured, air-dried tuna), canned seafood and croquetas. Can't make up your mind? Ask the maestro behind the bar to assemble you a plate. Intense flavours create an unforgettable experience. Don't expect fried fish, or fried anything. Blonde, brown and black beers on tap. They serve their own-label Belgian beer, excellent wines and cavas. Standing room only. • Carrer del Poeta Cabanyes 25, +34 93 442 3142. Frommers
This is a great tapas bar with the finest selection of cheeses in Barcelona. Built at the turn of the 20th century, the tavern in the Poble Sec sector is run by the fifth generation of Quimets, and their wine cellar is one of the best stocked of any tapas bar. If you're not watching the calories and cholesterol, try the prized four quesos (cheeses) on the same plate: Nevat (a tangy goat's cheese), cabrales (an intense Spanish blue cheese), zamorano (a hardy, nutty sheep's milk cheese), and torta del Casar (a soft, creamy farm cheese). Or chance the tou dels tillers, a cheese stuffed with trout roe and truffles. Other delights include mejillones con confit de tomate y caviar (mussels with tomato confit and caviar), navajas (razor clams), and even esturión (sturgeon).

The New York Times
You can see this tradition, from its simple beginnings to its most elaborate current form, at Quimet y Quimet, perhaps the quirkiest restaurant I know. A representative of the fourth generation of the Quim family works behind the counter in a space about the size of a standard living room. The walls are lined to the ceiling with bottles and cans, the bottles mostly of wine — some quite inexpensive, some unknown, some famous — the cans, of vegetables, seafood and meat.
(Spain produces what is probably the highest quality and most expensive canned food in the world, and many tapas bars rely on it. Though much of it is good and interesting, for the most part I don't get it, since Spain also produces among the highest quality fresh food in the world. This is as true in Barcelona — which has farms within its city limits — as it is elsewhere in the country.)
Standing in a crowd around the stainless-steel counter, glass of wine or beer in hand, you may get a piece of good bread with some garlicky beans on it, or little assemblies of ham and tuna; mushrooms, butter and tuna; pressed beef with a mix of tomato jam (this, very sweet, is fantastic) and tapenade; bacalao in a few forms; an odd, sort of New Yorkish combination of cream cheese, smoked salmon and honey; a piece of toasted bread with a mussel, that tomato jam again and a spoonful of caviar.
Mr. Quim improvises as many as a hundred types of these montaditos a night, on the spot, from the ingredients spread in front of him. There are also classic tapas like potato croquettes, fried empanadas or cheese with sweet grilled peppers, well executed. The whole meal here — you can spend as little as 10 euros, or as much as 35 (about $15 to $50), even more if you start asking for the canned goods — will take you a half hour and, though tapas are not, in theory, lunch or dinner, it's unlikely you'll go out for a “real” meal after this.

A genuine spot that has been already run by four generations of Quimets. It offers delicious tapas, good wines and good humour. With only two tables and a bar, this tiny old wine cellar is always crammed with people who enjoy a really informal atmosphere.
this tiny bar-wine house delights its loyal clientele qith amazing classic and signature tapas and dishes cooked with market produce. It is literally a sin to miss the smoked products, cheese selections or montaditos like the one with anchovy and yoghurt. The wine list plays a really important role also. Here, even the wine of the house is astonishing. With a busy, friendly atmosphere, Quimet & Quimet is definitely a must.

Barcelona Guide
One of the prettiest wine bars in the Poble Sec. Quimet i Quimet is a family owned bar always well visited by great experts and chefs. Good quality tapas with cheeses and great mussels, montaditos de foie and a very wide selection of wines, makes it worth a visit, though the service sometimes is under critic. Prices are good compared to other places.

Barcelona Life
Like most of the most-talked-about restaurants in Barcelona, Quimet i Quimet is no grandiose affair of starched linen and stuffy waiters, but a down-to-earth local bar in the rugged Poble Sec district where patrons lean on the counter to eat. Family-owned for four generations, Quimet i Quimet owes its sterling reputation to delicious tapas, such as mussels and tomatoes, navajas (razor shells) and improvised montaditos (mini-sandwiches), as well as its amazing cheeses, such as tou dels tillers, a cheese stuffed with trout roe and truffles.
The walls are lined floor-to-ceiling with wine and liquor bottles, and sure enough, you'll find an impressive selection of Dionysian treats to go with your tapas. Deservedly famous.

Barcelona Metropolitan : Lunch with Tahir Shah
“This place feels to me a bit like liquid compressed in a syringe,” Shah explained, gesticulating dangerously with a toothpick speared with succulent preserved vegetables which Quim created as a little taster-menu of his legendary montaditos. “It’s a total distillation of the raw sense of Barcelona. High intensity Barcelona if you like,” Shah mused, calling for another glass to go with the piled high open-sandwiches before us. Soft cream-cheese topped with a plump pink prawn (the only shellfish Shah will eat), a dollop of mullet roe and some truffled honey. Mojama (air-cured tuna) on a rough salsa verde sweetened with a half teaspoon of tomato ‘caviar,’ a wedge of coarse pork pate topped with candied chestnuts and a glob of unctuous Torta de Casar cheese to finish. “This,” Shah declared, throwing his arms wide as if to embrace the entire place and all the people in it, “Is why we love to eat. It’s not to survive. It’s because it makes us feel alive in that very real and tingly sense.” Couldn’t have said it better myself. And that’s why Quimet Quimet is getting five stars. Happy eating!

Time Out
Packed to the rafters with dusty bottles of wine, this classic but minuscule bar makes up for in tapas what it lacks in space. The specialities are 'conservas' (shellfish preserved in tins), which aren't always to non-Spanish tastes, but the 'montaditos' (sculpted tapas served on bread) are spectacular. Try salmon sashimi with cream cheese, honey and soy, or cod, passata and black olive pâté. Get there early for any chance of a surface to put your drink on.

This restaurant has apparently nothing that makes it special except for its perfect strategic situation on the corner of Rambla Catalunya and Gran Via. But this is only apparently, for it turns out to be one of the places that best prepare the typical Spanish "tapas".
Ciudad Condall is a really busy restaurant, it is full packed all day long and it is frequented by different kinds of people that know that here they will find all types of "tapas" and "montaditos" suitable for all tastes.
Although the place, it's still really nice -if you are lucky enough to find some place at the bar or a free table inside or out in the terrace- to enjoy their delicious "tapas" with any of the beers included on the imported beer list.
They prepare set menus for groups, but only at lunch time. From Thursday to Saturday night reservations are not accepted.

Ciudad Condal is the old name of the city of Barcelona. The place opened in 1997, is known for its large choice of beers and for its tapas.
Always full inside, nice wooden decoration, as well as outside where there is a typical terrace on the middle of Rambla Catalunya.
It's a very good address. At first look you might think that it's quite commercial (rapidity of the service, waiters waiting for you) but once you tried the tapas you understand that working people or connoisseurs are here to have a good lunch.
All kinds of tapas, desserts, fine wine and alcohol will reconcile you with a hard day working (to come) or hanging around.

Inside the dome of the shopping center of Plaza Las Arenas Spain, in the heart of the city of Barcelona, is the restaurant Abrassame. It is a restaurant specializing in fish dishes and seafood, with fresh and with a touch Mediterranean.
The restaurant offers an extensive menu and several daily menus composed of dishes made with seafood flown in daily from the fish market. A selection of meats (Galician, Asturian or Nebraska), with the common characteristic quality product at a good price, cooked grilled, baked or grilled. It also has a variety of dishes and Share Chopping and several types of the best meat for hamburger.

Located at the top of Las Arenas, Abrassame is without doubt one of the most interesting gastronomic options in the shopping centre that occupies what was once the old bullring. Specialized in seafood, which arrives daily from the fish market and is cooked on the grill or baked, the restaurant’s philosophy is to offer quality products at reasonable prices. The menu also includes a large selection of tapas and plates to share, as well as select meats from Galicia, Asturias and Nebraska. Referred to as the best tapas restaurant in Barcelona, although if judged on the food alone this might not hold true, the whole experience of dinning there has made it the most enjoyable tapas in Barcelona experience. It is a wonderful tapas restaurant in the Eixample Barrio that is always popular with locals and tourists alike. They won’t let you call up and make a reservation. When it is busy it’s completely normal to wait for about 30-60 minutes

It is considered one of the best places in the city to try the more tasty tapas. You can find all kind of tapas and "montaditos" (peace of bread with something on top). When you get in you should first have a look at the huge range of tapas they have and then choose.

Here’s a novelty-a tapas bar which takes reservations. Why? Because it’s small, serves excellent quality food and is always busy. It is one of the best tapas bars in the city. Paco Meralgo is a cute play on words in Spanish: para comer algo - to eat something. And the somethings you can eat include: courgette flowers with mozzarella cheese, or flower power as the waiters insist on calling the dish, and espardenyes – sea slugs, as well as inspired and exquisite variations on all the usual tapas and montaditoes. Expect to pay a little more than usual for your tapas – but it’s worth it.

Espardenyes( ) are unique to the Catalan coast and are highly prized (and highly priced) delicacies. As you’ll likely know espardenyes are also a Catalan and Balearic version of the shoes more commonly known as espadrilles. And, interestingly, the French call these sea bottom dwelling creatures sandales de mar - sandals of the sea (*). Forget any association with snails-these creatures have a unique taste and texture – somewhere between crab and scallops. When you want to try them expect to pay € 20 plus for a plate of six. The patatas bravas I’ve eaten here are probably the best I’ve ever had-and come served with allioli, not mayonnaise, and spicy oil. The wine list here is very good-but very pricey. Luckily you can order wine by the glass or order a beer. And, on Saturday and Sunday afternoons only, they serve a range of paellas to take away.
* wrong : we call it concombre ( cucumber ), bêche ( spade ) or ver ( worm ) de mer ( of the sea ) ; the mistake comes from the fact that the word espadrilles is the French word for "sandals". .../...michel

Barcelona Guide
Paco Meralgo is one of the best tapas bars in Barcelona and you can be sure that whatever you taste it will be made out of the best products of the market. The service is sufficient and the waiters are friendly and helpful. The price is reasonable for the quality. Do try the "bacalao esqueixado" with olive oil (raw cod with tomatoe), or "gambas al ajillo"(fried shrimps in chili and garlic). The wine list is short but nicely choosen

Bcn Restaurantes
Paco Meralgo is more than just a tavern. Elaborate and creative tapas, half portions and portions with the best products. It's not the typical cheap tapas bar, but you pay for the quality and exquisiteness of the food. Good selection of wines. Book in advance.
Founded in the year 2002, where the old L'Olivé restaurant used to be in Barcelona's Muntaner street, Alta Taberna Paco Meralgo aims to be a unique tapa bar. It is, in fact, a place where you will find all kind of original tapas, half portion dishes, montaditos, a large variety of fish and seafood, with unique and original preparation, instantly served with really good quality food. The wine list is not very extensive but wines have been carefully chosen, and we can also order wine, champagne or cava by the glass. Desserts are also really delightful. The restaurant presents a minimalist decoration in a modern, informal environment. We can eat at the bar, at modern high-stool tables, or in the private room (up to 18 people).

Zagat : Food : 22/30, Decor : 20/30, Service : 21/30, Cost : E
Despite the wacky wordplay on ‘para comer algo’ (‘to eat something’), this “popular” Eixample place is serious about taking tapas “to the next level” with its “well-thought-out” Mediterranean menu; the “sleek, chic” space, furnished with wooden counters and tables and staffed by servers with a “sense of humor”, is “always fully booked with locals”, though it does get “pricey to actually fill up for dinner.”
