Located on one of the towers of the cable car that goes from La Barceloneta to Montjuïc, 75 meters high, Torre d'Alta Mar presents an idyllic scenerio for the most special evenings.
With an exquisite contemporary interior design, the luxurious restaurant served up its best dish in the shape of spectacular views over the Mediterranean sea and the city of Barcelona. The experience begins in a glass lift that won't let us miss any details of the privileged place where are in. Once in the restaurant, the setting is simply astonishing, especially at night, and more than well worth a visit to the restaurant.
The menu offers the best of the Mediterraean gastronomy, with top quality products and the chef's personal touch.
As expected, this luxury is not suitable for everybody and prices are -just like the restaurant- sky-high. Still, the singularity of the place is well worth it.

This old cable station, overlooking the Barcelona port, houses a restaurant.
75 meters high and a fabulous 360º view. Appreciated by lovers and celebrities: Norman Foster, Jodie Foster, Francis Ford Coppola, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Victoria Abril…
Go for the view but not so much for its expensive Mediterranean cuisine. High altitude but high prices!

“The setting’s the key” to this Mediterranean seafooder situated high “atop a tower at the edge of Barceloneta harbor”, affording “magnificent” views of the city and the sea; the food is a pleasant “surprise”, though a few contend it’s not worth the high prices if you don’t have “a table by the window.”

Location, location, location: at a height of 250 feet over the Barcelona waterfront in the Eiffel-tower-like Sant Sebastià cable-car station over the far side of the port, this restaurant has spectacular 360-degree views of Barcelona as well as far out into the Mediterranean. Seafood of every stripe, spot, fin, and carapace emanates from the kitchen here, but the filet mignon under a colossal slab of foie never fails to delight carnivores.

Alta Mar is sort of a mile-high gastro club. Its setting is the 75-m (250-feet)-high Torre de Sant Sebastián, one of the three towers that serves the port-crossing, tourist-carrying cable car. Don't worry about rubbing shoulders with backpackers when you enter this exclusive eatery; patrons are whisked up in a private high-tech glass elevator to be greeted by a simply breathtaking 360-degree view of the city and sea. Once your jaw stops dropping and you are settled in the plush decor, dine in style from a predominantly fish menu that includes such inventions as a merluza (hake), porcini, and artichoke stir-fry, stewed rape (monkfish) in romesco sauce, or rodaballo (turbot) with pumpkin ravioli.

With incredible views, 75 meters above ground you can enjoy the panorama of Barcelona's seaside at the top of Torre de San Sebastian. Impressive views. The elevator that takes you up is an adventure in itself! Restaurant Torre de Alta Mar is chic and comfortable and serves mediterrran and local dishes based on food like fish and seafood to people who want that little extra of sunsets and starry nights over the spectacular sea. Ofcourse the view has its price, which shows clearly once its time to pay.

This restaurant, nestled atop the 75 meter high Torre de Sant Sebastián cable-car tower, is more a spectacular vantage point than an eatery. A predominantly sea-food menu is cooked in traditional Catalan style and the service is more than satisfactory. Being an upscale luxury joint, it mostly serves high-profile customers. But if you do manage to get a reservation, you are sure to have the time of your life! Come along, a whole new dining experience awaits you at torre d'alta mar.
Time Out
Mediterranean fish cuisine with modern touches, and in a chic setting: the cable car tower that looks down over the port. As you can imagine, bringing lobsters, wine and oil 75 metres uphill is not easy or cheap. So you can calculate about €80 per head, at least. Treat yourself, just for a day. Another, cheaper option is to book during the week and try their lunchtime menu.
