Bcn Restaurantes
Founded in 1934 by Alfonso García, Casa Alfonso is, as well as architectural heritage of the city, an emblematic brasserie-charcuterie that for almost eight decades has boasted of always offering the best product.
Today run by the third generation of ‘Alfonsos’, the restaurant -opened as such in 1980 and renovated some years ago- preserves within its walls all the essence, tradition and history of the times it garnered its fame. Antique furniture, wood, marble bar and tables ... it all contributes to create an authentic atmosphere that has attracted personalities like Ferran Adrià.
Besides the excellent selection of ‘embutidos’ and cheeses, the select menu includes salads, grill specialities and an endless and wonderful selection of tapas and montaditos of the highest level.

Old bodega opened in 1934, Casa Alfonso is from now on a restaurant famous for its tapas. We advise you to taste amoung the tapas the delicious bocadillos. Then try hams like Jabugo, famous croquettes and cheeses. A normal chart offers also typically Catalan dishes. Excellent wines! Very traditional. Perfect

Frommer's
Spaniards love mountain ham, which comes from many different regions. The best of the best is jamón Jabugo, the only one sold at this traditional establishment. Entire hams hang from steel braces and they're taken down, carved, and trimmed into paper-thin slices in front of you. This particular form of cured ham, generically called jamón Serrano, comes from pigs fed on acorns in Huelva, in deepest Andalucia. Devotees of all things porcine will ascend to piggy-flavored heaven. The bar also offers salads and grilled meat dishes.

Casa Alfonso Restaurant is a delicatessen shop as well as a bar where  you can taste the goods, famous because of the "embutidos".
It has been renewed but it keeps all its history, the old furniture and the informal atmosphere. It's always full.
