The district of El Born was, in the beginning of the eighties, the place chosen by Ramon Parellada to follow his family tradition and offer Barcelona's public a homey establishment that reminds us of the typical old Catalan ‘fondas’.
Senyor Parellada brings us back the most traditional Catalan cuisine and presents homemade simple dishes cooked according to classic recipes with good market produce.
Spread out over two classy floors decorated with good taste, the restaurant is perfect for any occasion, from romantic evenings to family gatherings.

Frommers
The glossy, contemporary-looking interior of this restaurant is in distinct contrast to the facade of its century-old home. Inside, in a pair of lemon-yellow and blue dining rooms, you'll find menu items such as Italian-style cannelloni, stuffed cabbage, cod "as it was prepared by the monks of the Poblet monastery," baked monkfish with mustard and garlic sauce, and roasted rack of lamb with red-wine sauce. Patrons flock here faithfully, knowing they'll be served a traditional cuisine of northeast Spain created with fine local produce. The chefs know how to coax the flavor out of the premium ingredients.

Barcelona Metropolitan
...I first came across this recipe, Lamb roasted with 12 heads of garlic, in Colman Andrews’s Catalan Cuisine, which I refer to time and again in all matters of culinary Catalunya. And I’m pleased to say that the restaurant Senyor Parellada remains one of the few places in Barcelona where it can reliably be found. It’s a fantastic dinner party dish, and one that’s relatively easy to make, served with trimmings of roast potatoes and a side of escalivada (Catalan roasted vegetables)...

Nile Guide
Ramón Perellada owns and manages this restaurant that has been in his family and in the same location for generations. His forefathers used to serve adventurers and colonists on their way to the New World. Nowadays, he prepares typical Catalan dishes with a wonderful Picada sauce made with garlic, nuts, toasted bread, parsley and spices. His 'Cannelloni Fonda Europa' (a recipe inherited from his grandparents' inn in Granollers) is outstanding, as are the stewed beef with artichokes and the rice with lentils. Good Catalan wines like Prat de Medea or Clarege Gran Caus are available, or opt directly for Llopart Brut Nature Cava (sparkling wine), like many locals do.

Time Out
A charming restaurant with a range of classic dishes from Catalonia’s culinary culture that are always good to revisit or discover: croquetes de l’àvia, French beans or cod casserole are just a few of their standout dishes from the Catalan cookbook.
