It was Cándido and Pura, parents of the three Iglesias brothers who currently run Rías de Galicia who founded the famous restaurant in 1986. Soon, the classic establishment became a landmark seafood reference that for decades boasted of offering the best and freshest products.
Today, Juan Carlos, Borja and Pedro (partners of the Adrià brothers in Tickets and 41° and also responsible for the neighbouring and renovated Cañota tapas bar) work hard every day to continue offering perfection, and are responsible for the evolution, in all aspects, of the family business.
Rías de Galicia’s menu is sourced daily from the Cantabrian, Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts to offer exceptional products (oysters, barnacles, cockles, razor clams, scallops, clams, prawns, espardeñas, lobsters, crabs, octopus, eels, tuna, turbot, hake, monkfish, sea bass…) cooked masterfully by great chef Ever Cubillas.
The restaurant is divided into two floors and welcomes us in three different dining rooms boasting a décor that has nothing to do with the original from the eighties. The wine cellar contains more than 800 labels from all around the world and about 20,000 bottles.
Barcelona Guide
Great restaurant, with fresh daily products from Galicia. One of the best Galician retaurants in Barcelona, with good service, and a wide selection of wines.

This restaurant is the setting for the Iglesias family’s wonderful relationship with the finest seafood. The menu includes Cantabrian lobster with garlic, John Dory and txangurro crab cannelloni. And when it’s in season, they have the exquisite Bordeaux lamprey.

“They have every kind of seafood you can imagine” at this “reliable” Galician in Poble Sec, purveying the bounty of the rías (estuaries) of northwestern Spain; run by the Iglesias family, it offers “wonderful” service as well, and while a few consider it a bit “staid”, most feel it’s “worth every penny” of the “pricey” bill.
