Pla is a very cosy ambience restaurant, considered one of the must try of the city and a good creative cooking. What is particular of this place is the inspiration of the menu: a tasty travel along the Mediterranean coast, a mix of many cultures. Oriental, Greek, Italian, Spanish you'll taste of those flavours. Try salads, curries, sushi, and pastas... Fun for the taste buds, nice for the eyes, ok for the music. People considers it as one of the best places they've ever eaten! Tasting menu: 36€
Pla is a very intimate restaurant located on one of the alleys of the Gothic Quarter. The menu, that presents the chef's personal and modern cuisine, is sprinkled with both Catalan and international -especially Eastern- influences. A very special gastronomic offer, perfect for romantic evenings with good background music. Dishes: Octopus carpaccio. Iberian pork ‘presa’. Beef fillet with grilled foie. Fish. Vegetarian dishes. Food: Creative. Fusion cooking. International. Atmosphere: Romantic. With charm. With performances, live music on Tuesdays
Time Out
With time and experience, it’s easy to find a cosy, homely restaurant. Finding one in the city centre is another story – but that’s the case with El Pla, with its exquisite low-lit decor, where the waiter sits down at your table and explains all the dishes, and which you feel have been made especially for you. "Success is being happy where you are," says Pla, and they make you feel just that. Which is by no means easy. 2010 Time Out Award Winner for best dining atmosphere!

“Pla” is a distinguished Catalan surname. It belongs not only to the proprietor of this charming restaurant in the Barrio Gotico, but also to the eminent writer Josep Pla. But the word also happens to mean “plain”, which Pla’s owner claims as a watchword for his establishment.
The reality turns out to be slightly less modest. The restaurant’s rather impressive decor includes chandeliers, grand arches and a spacious dining area; the food, too, is rather ornate—Mediterranean-style dishes prepared with exotic, haute cuisine flourishes. “Sea and the Mountains”, for example, combines classic Catalan fare with innovative touches: the creamy mixture of porcini rice, scampi and blood sausage that works delightfully well.
Pla’s “simplicity” is most evident in the friendly service: that typically Catalan knack for delivering creativity without pretension.
