Bcn Restaurantes
L'Olivé restaurant was founded in 1984 on Muntaner street, and achieved, from the very beggining, a resounding success. More than two decades later it is considered a reference point for Catalan cusiine in Barcelona.
In 2000 it moved to Balmes street, to a wide, cosy, modern and exquisitely decorated space in shades of green, with classical ornamental pieces and open kitchen.
Its cuisine is a perfect sample of the Catalan and Mediterranean gastronomic tradition, with mountain and sea specialities, always prepared with an original, modern touch and the best quality. Desserts are home-made and the wine list features imporant references.
With a perfectly trained staff, the restaurant -that boasts three wonderful private rooms- is the perfect scenario for family and business meetings.
Barcelona Guide
L´Olivé restaurant is named after its owner, but is also perfectly suited to its food and decor. They specialise in traditional Catalan and Mediterranean home cooking. Their most popular specialities are combined "sea and mountain" dishes. It´s a warm and comfortable restaurant, decorated in natural green and brown tones. The kitchen is in view from the entrance and the end of the dining room which gives it an open atmosphere. Private rooms can be found in the basement.
Frommers
Named after the owner, Josep Olivé, this restaurant is designed in modern Catalan style and the walls are adorned with reproductions of Miró, Dalí, and Picasso paintings. The overall feeling is one of elegance with a touch of intimacy; there are some discreet little corners in which to hide. You won't be disappointed by anything on the menu, especially bacallà a la llauna (baked salt cod) or filet de vedella al vi negre al forn (veal filets in a red-wine sauce). Monkfish flavored with roasted garlic is a palate pleaser, and you could finish with a crema catalana (creme caramel) or a delicious Catalan pastry.

Nile Guide
The ambience is contemporary and the food simply wonderful. It is no wonder, then, that L'Olive in L'Eixample teems with life practically the whole time. Well-known paintings, two floors, ample private space, and impeccable service greet visitors. The menu consists of Catalan fare; Salsa Maigret of Duck with strawberry sauce is recommended. As for the desserts, nothing comes close to the Crema Catalana. Reservations are accepted.
Time Out
Even before Catalan cuisine underwent a revival in the city, L'Olivé restaurant had for many years been serving high-quality casseroles, stews and esqueixada, and using fine glassware and linen serviettes. It's certainly not cheap, but you only have to try the habas a la Catalana (served with spring onions and sausage) to realise that it is seasonal produce from the best suppliers that makes a good meal and, therefore, a good restaurant. And now’s your chance, as we’re the habas season is just starting!

Highly “enjoyable” Catalan-Med cooking offers a taste of the “countryside” at this Eixample “classic” set in an “attractive” modern space with the kitchen visible through a large window; tended by a “professional” crew, it’s a hit for “special occasions” that’s also “less expensive than expected”, making it a “great bang for the buck.”
