Bcn Restaurantes
Ca l'Isidre is one of those emblematic restaurants that still today, more than 40 years after its foundation, is a landmark and is considered one of the best traditional restaurants in Barcelona.
Run by Isidro Gironès and his family, it welcomes us in an ambience with classic and elegant décor and has been visited by all kinds of national and international celebrities. The quality of the products is the hallmark of the restaurant. Every morning, Isidre himself selects the best products in La Boqueria market. With them and his daughter's help he manages to offer excellent traditional Mediterranean and Catalan- inspired cuisine with a touch of modernity, that will turn any visit to the restaurant into a real gastronomic experience.

Excellent Catalan cooking with French inspiration. Ca l'Isidre from the name of his owner Isidre Gironés and her daughter Nuria (she worked for Alain Ducasse) is the favorite restaurant of the King Juan Carlos in Barcelona.
Difficult to choose an only dish. Try grilled baby octopuss a la plancha, baked seabass, grilled 'king - sea cucumber', fried codfish 'home style', grilled scampi from Sant Carles, grilled turbot with vegetables...
And much more.. You will have to go there several times, if you can afford it, to be able to try all these wonderful plates. Small but nicely decorated. We enjoyed the wines as well. Essential to book A 40€ menu

“On a little side street” in the Raval, this “welcoming”, “family-owned” place excels in “quality and freshness” with its seasonally attuned Catalan-Med cuisine and “sublime” desserts by chef Núria Gironés, daughter of owner Isidre; though pricey and perhaps “no longer in fashion” (and “thus easy to get a table”), it’s still “very popular with the locals”, because of a “gentle, caring attitude” among the staff and an “old-world”, “less-is-more” dining room decorated with original Picassos and Mirós

Frommer's
In spite of its seedy location in the gritty Parel.lel district (take a cab at night!), this is perhaps the most sophisticated Catalan bistro in Barcelona. Opened in 1970, King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofía, Julio Iglesias, and the famous Catalan bandleader Xavier Cugat have all eaten here. Isidre Gironés, helped by his wife, Montserrat, is known for his fresh cuisine, which is beautifully prepared and served. Try spider crabs and shrimp, foie gras salad, sweetbreads with port and flap mushrooms, or carpaccio of veal. The selection of Spanish and Catalan wines is excellent.
